Things I've learned... BACK

Things I've learned about the BACK of my Z

EXTERIOR

REAR HATCH
  • When you wash your car, water gets caught in the seal between the hatch and the frame. Then, when you open the hatch, it drips down. So I usually put towels there to absorb the water. It also gets very dusty in that area.
    REAR WING
  • On the pre '94 models, the wing is just (glued on?) foam. The paint doesn't last very long. Mr. Z was built in 12/91, and his wing is getting very oxidized. I would have it repainted if I weren't planning to get the Stillen Level III (SMZ) wing sometime soon. There's the gentleman in Europe (can't remember his name right now) who was inquiring in 1/98 about wings for his Z in europe; his foam had cracked and he was calling it his "Once a wing, now a sponge"... 8) Poor guy. I think he's the same one that had his engine blow on the Bahn...
    LICENSE PLATE
  • Our licens plates tend to get caked with exhaust residue. When I give Mr. Z a bath, I make sure to scrub his plate vigorously. You'd be surprised at the grey water that flows off of it after a week or two! Also, one of our contributors made his plate a fold-up panel so that he could attatch a trailer hitch for his Jet-ski trailer. Very nifty!
    LIGHTS
  • You can look up what bulbs the taillights use in your manual, to make sure they're the same, but here's what I have:
  • Rear blinkers ..........................................1156
  • Rear Stop/Tail ........................................1157
  • Reverse light ...........................................1156 (Although I'd like to find brighter ones!)
  • License Plate ..........................................194
  • Side Marker (the little red reflectors)........194
  • The third triclops brake light, front fog lights, and interior lights don't have numbers listed. If you know, please MAIL ME at JaimeZX@aol.com or Andy Woo so that we can update this page.

    T-TOP STORAGE
  • DON'T just take off your tops & throw them in the back. They'll get scratched. Always put hem either in the supplied bags, or separate them with something soft.
